In 1965, three brothers, Bob, Bill, and Barry Cowsill formed a rock band. Soon after, another brother, John, joined as the drummer. The boys saw themselves as the Beatles or the Stones, but their dad, who also managed them, had a different vision, adding mom Barbara. Not every future rock star’s dream, but after the success of “The Rain, The Park and Other Things”, and the addition of seven-year-old sister Susan, and yet another brother, Paul, they went on to other hits, TV appearances, and a sitcom based on their lives…”The Partridge Family”.  Over the years, they’ve broken up, gotten back together, joined other groups and released new music, most notably the 1978 album, “Cocaine Drain”.  They also lost two brothers – Barry who was a victim of Hurricane Katrina, and Bill, who died a few months later. John spent several years touring as the drummer for the Beach Boys, and recently released new music with his wife, The Bangles’ Vickie Peterson. When they’re not pursuing independent projects, the present-day Cowsills – Bob, Susan and Paul, perform to sell-out crowds on the oldies circuit. This interview was shot at a Monkees convention in 1988, when the group was reuniting.
