Born Donald Allen Munoz in Wichita, Kansas, Scott developed his love of music during his childhood in New Orleans. He began his broadcasting career in the Marines, reading “Dear John” letters over Radio Guam. In 1955 he was hired at WAKR in Akron, Ohio, taking over the seven to midnight shift that had belonged to radio legend Alan Freed. Scott moved to New York a few years later, where he became a legend in his own right, with a career that spanned almost 50 years and included stints as a Good Guy at WMCA and an All American at powerhouse WABC before joining the FM revolution at groundbreaking stations WOR and WNEW.  We met up with Scottin New York shortly before his death in 2004.
