LITTLE ANTHONY

Jerome Anthony Gourdine was born January 8, 1941 to a musical family in Brooklyn. His first known public performance was when he was in the hospital at the age of three and, according to the nurses, belted out a song from “Annie Get Your Gun” non-stop. From there, he went from singing at family events, to singing in two bands, the Duponts and the Chesters, to singing for the rest of America – and later the rest of the world as the lead singer of the Imperials, when “Tears On My Pillow” was released in 1958. Iconic deejay Alan Freed, hearing his high-pitched voice, introduced the group as Little Anthony and the Imperials…and a little star was born. Their hits spanned three decades and were covered by artists from Frank Sinatra to Amy Winehouse. Solo since 1975 (except for a few reunion concerts), Anthony continues to entertain audiences (and hit all the high notes). He also hosts a weekly show, Little Anthony and the Music in SiriusXM’s 50’s Gold.
