Frankie Avalon (born Francis Avallone) is best known as one of the teen idols to come out of Philadelphia, but he was already a showbiz veteran. An accomplished trumpet player,  he had already won a TV talent show and been on a 1952 episode of “The Honeymooners” before joining a band, Rocco and The Saints, at 15, where another future teen idol, Bobby Rydell, played drums. Frankie eventually became the lead singer before going solo. He also acted in dramatic films, including “The Alamo” with John Wayne before heading to the beach with Annette, and later moving from the sea to the sky as “Teen Angel” in “Grease” in 1985, he joined childhood friends Fabian and Bobby Rydell as Diick Fox’s Golden Boys, and continues to perform today.
