DARLENE LOVE
Darlene started out singing in church until an invitation to join a group changed her life. The Blossoms were not only recording artists….they became regulars on the groundbreaking TV show, “Shindig!” and sang backup for most of the major acts of the time. But Darlene’s better known for her solo career with producer Phil Spector. Besides her own singles, including “Today I Met The Boy I’m Going To Marry” and “Wait Til My Bobby Comes Home”, she sang lead on the Billboard #1 hit, “He’s A Rebel”, although it was credited to The Crystals. Darlene also appeared on Broadway and had a recurring role in the “Lethal Weapon” franchise.
But Christmas is her time to shine. She performed her song, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on David Letterman’s show every year from 1986 until he retired in 2014. He named her the Queen of Christmas. In 2023, Darlene recorded a new version of the song with her friend, Cher.
